#Як подружжя Святошенків удруге рятується від війни / How Svyatoshenko family escape from the war for the second time

І Валентина, і Віталій мають травму спинного мозку та пересуваються на кріслі колісному. Віталій, родом із Донеччини, активний громадський діяч, заснував у рідному містечку організацію для людей з інвалідністю, спортсмен. Валентина з Київщини, любить творчість у всіх її проявах і домашній затишок. 

Пара познайомилася в санаторії в Криму й дуже швидко зрозуміла, що мають бути разом. Одружилися та будували своє сімейне гніздечко в Дебальцево. Однак 2014 рік все змінив. Як тільки почалися заворушення, Віталій зрозумів, що в окупації жити подружжя не буде, і вирішили поїхати з міста… Зупинилися спочатку в батьків Валентини. А знедавна вже мешкають у власному домі. 

24 лютого 2022. “Я була вдома одна. Віталій — в Інституті раку. Прокинулася від незрозумілих звуків. Не придумала б навіть, що це війна… Страшно, що я сама“, — розповідає Валентина. Віталій не чув вибухів. Унаслідок хіміотерапії в чоловіка порушився слух. Вони жартують між собою, що добре недочувати й мати змогу відпочивати, не реагуючи на постріли й вибухи. 

“Спочатку не дозволяли собі й думати про виїзд із дому. Був страх знову залишити власне житло. Водночас розуміли, що не зможемо жити в разі окупації… Вагалися довго, та попри все валіза була складена.  Серйозно про евакуацію задумалися, коли прочитали пост Уляни про їхній виїзд із Бучі. З’явився страх: як бути, коли вимкнуть світло, воду, газ?”

11 березня подружжя вже було у Львові. Їхали в геть непристосованому автобусі. Товариш супроводжував їх до місця призначення, заносив-виносив на руках по кілька разів упродовж дороги.

Чому Львів? Це рішення не було спонтанним. Усе продумали заздалегідь,  наперед домовилися про зручні для людей з інвалідністю умови, перебування в реабілітаційному центрі “Галичина”. Львів вибрали не тільки як безпечне місто: Віталій мав надію на лікування в онкоцентрі, однак допомоги належної там не отримав.

“Уже у Львові виникла потреба в гігієнічних та інших засобах, тоді ми звернулися в ГАР  — заповнили анкету на сайті”. Уляна Пчолкіна й Таня Фоміна привезли протипролежневі подушки, які отримали від польських друзів. Поспілкувалися й розповіли про можливість отримати допомогу в пошуку житла та медичного супроводу в країнах Європи”.

Якби не питання здоров’я, родина залишилася у відносно спокійному  Львові. Однак не можна втрачати можливість вирішити свої медичні проблеми, а отже, потрібно їхати туди, де можуть допомогти.

Уляна Пчолкіна наполегливо радила Віталію спробувати виїхати. Кілька хвилин місткої розмови про подальші кроки, довіра до лідерів ГАР, репутація самої організації, детальна інформація про все, як відбуватиметься виїзд та надання потрібної допомоги, від Марії Склярук — усе це допомогло швидко й правильно вирішити: “Треба їхати!” 

Віталій і Валентина все швидко продумали й вирішили. Та далося це їм нелегко й навіть болісно, адже сім’я вже вдруге покидає рідний дім через війну з росією та можливість окупації. 

Трансфером, організованим ГАРом, Святошенки добралися дo “Безпечного дому” у Wólka Cecowska, Польща. 

Попри зручні умови проживання, добре ставлення, повне відчуття спокою та надії, упевненості “Усе зробили правильно!” з’явилося вже тільки тоді, коли оглянули Віталія і Сара, після медична сестра зі спеціалізованої клініки в Швейцарії, запевнила: “Тобі допоможуть!”. Адже саме надання кваліфікованої медичної допомоги — це першопричина виїзду подружжя за кордон. 

Зараз Валентина й Віталій перебувають у Швейцарії в найкращій клініці Європи, яка спеціалізується на травмах хребта. Тут вони вже отримують якісну медичну допомогу, що  дуже важливо для подружжя. За першої можливості родина планує повернутися додому. 

Команда ГАР щаслива, що причетна до таких добрих справ.

Valentina and Vitaliy both suffer a spinal cord injury and move on a wheeled chair. Vitaliy is from Donetsk region. He is a public activist, sportsman and a person, who founded an organization for people with disabilities in the native city. Valentina is from the Kiev region, she loves creativity of different forms and home cozyness.

The couple got acquainted in Crimean health resort and quickly understood that they should be together. They married and built their nest in Debaltseve. However, 2014 changed everything. Once disturbances began, Vitaliy understood that they wouldn’t live in the occupation, and they left the town. First a couple stopped at the house of Valentina’s parents. And then they were living in their own house.

February 24, 2022. “I was alone at home. Vitaliy was at the Cancer Institute. I woke up to some strange sounds. I couldn’t even imagine that it was a war … I was scared to be on my own,” Valentina said. Vitaliy didn’t hear the explosions. As a result of chemotherapy, his hearing was broken. They joke that it’s even good as he can have a rest ignoring the sounds of shooting and explosions.

“First we didn’t even think about leaving the house. There was a fear of leaving your own home again. At the same time we understood that it’s not possible to live in the occupation… We hesitated for a long time, but our bag was packed. We seriously started to think about the evacuation after reading Ulyanya’s post about their departure from Bucha. We thought about what we would do without light, water, or gas”.

On March 11, 2022 the couple was already in Lviv. They went by not adapted bus. A friend was guiding them to a destination point. He carried them in and out on his own hands several times during the trip.

Why have we chosen Lviv? The decision wasn’t spontaneous. We thought about everything ahead, agreed about comfortable conditions for people with a disability and about our stay at the rehabilitation center “Galicia”.

We have chosen Lviv not only as a safe city: Vitaliy hoped for treatment at the oncology center, but didn’t receive proper care there.

“In Lviv we were already in need of hygienic and other products, so we turned to the ARG — filled out the questionnaire at the website”. Ulyana Pcholkina and Tanya Fomina brought us anti-decubitus cushions and other stuff which they have received from Polish friends. Girls talked to us and informed us about the possibility to help with the search for housing and medical support in European countries.

If not for the matter of health, the family would live in a relatively calm Lviv. However, they cannot lose the possibility to solve their medical problems.That’s why a couple needs to go to that place, where they can receive help.

Ulyana Pcholkina strongly recommended Vitaliy to try to evacuate. A few minutes of a meaningful conversation with Maria Sklyaruk about further steps, trust in leaders of ARG, the reputation of the organization, detailed information about the process of evacuation and needed assistance. All that helped the family to come to a decision to leave.

Vitaliy and Valentina quickly thought it over and decided. It was a difficult, even painful decision for them as that was a second time when the family needed to leave their native home through the war with Russia and a risk of occupation.

AGR organized the transfer for Svyatoshenko to get to the “Safe House” near Wólka Cecowska, Poland.

Despite comfortable living conditions, good attitude, complete feeling of peace and hope, a confidence that “We did it right!” appeared only after a nurse from a specialized clinic in Switzerland assured: “We will help you”. After all, the provision of qualified medical care was the first reason for the family to go abroad.

Now Valentina and Vitaliy are in Switzerland in the best European clinic, which specializes in spinal injuries. Here they receive qualified medical help, which is extremely important for them. At the earliest opportunity, the couple plans to come back home.
