Volunteering at camp is not a way of life, it is life!

I first took part in active rehabilitation camp in 2007, when I was only 18.

TATIANA TUPY, KIEV

I believed that I spend my personal time doing volunteering for the sake of others. Believed that the constant lack of sleep, three trainings, lectures, late briefings, morning and evening duty will help the participants to believe in themselves, to change their lives after the injury. But each time, returning after the camp, my first thought was: What did it give me personally? Personal development? Higher self-esteem? The feeling that I was so good and helped others while my friends spent their time in the park on the bench? It seemed to me that YES!

Years passed, and now I know that the organization of GAR for me means more than just volunteering. After years of work on the camp, I met people who have become my friends. Together, we laughed, we cried, we loved, and had our disappointments. With these people we don’t only have good time, but they have become my teachers, my mentors. Volunteering at CAR is not a way of life, it is life! A life filled with good and bad emotions, experiences, its ups and downs, personal fulfillment, new acquaintances and always great meetings with “old” friends! And most importantly, thanks to GAR, I met people whom I can now call my family. My dear, reliable and beloved family!!!

It can take hours to talk about how you feel, but it is better to see once for yourself and live in this amazing atmosphere of the active rehabilitation camp.
