The event took place on 4 September 2026

A wheelchair skills training session took place in the basement space of the Klevan Hospital in Rivne region for people with spinal cord injuries. The session was led by Andrii Nesterchuk, Ivan Sivak and Tetiana Kravchuk.

The training began with a group warm-up, followed by individual work between each participant and an instructor. Participants practised balance control and riding on balance, overcoming thresholds, navigating simulated ruts, getting over a curb, and descending a ramp — skills directly relevant to everyday movement through streets and buildings.

Each participant received individual attention from instructors and had the opportunity to practise specific wheelchair handling techniques in a safe setting. This gave them practical experience overcoming obstacles they encounter when moving independently outside the training space.

By the numbers

4 people took part in the session (2 men and 2 women), including 3 people with disabilities and 2 veterans. The training was delivered by 3 instructors and organisers, giving each participant individual practice in wheelchair handling.
