Support people with spinal cord injuries during the war in Ukraine!

On February 24, 2022, at 5 am, Russia launched a war against Ukraine. Bombs and rockets continue to fall, and tanks invade various Ukrainian cities, killing and injuring thousands of civilians and defenders of their country.

To survive, people with disabilities must hide in basements, shelters, and bomb shelters every day. But not all places are accessible to people who use wheelchairs. So they stay in their apartments or houses. Some are alone, and others are without food, electricity, or water. And some become refugees, and they end up in a new town or village with no acquaintances and no housing.

NGO «All-Ukrainian Association of Persons with Disabilities «Group for Active Rehabilitation» introduced a support line for persons with spinal cord injuries and similar consequences of diseases during the military aggression of the Russian Federation on the territory of Ukraine to reduce the adverse effects and humanitarian catastrophe.

In the war, people with spinal cord injuries need, in particular:

  • products for urinary incontinence (catheters, penile sheaths, urine bags, diapers, bed and chair pads, etc.)
  • medicine
  • other needs

In addition, thousands of people are now suffering from injuries of different degrees of complexity, so they need wheelchairs and other assistive technologies, such as pressure relief cushions, which many will need in the long term.
