Dear friends! We are glad to tell you that, within the TEAM project, two more active rehabilitation camps (levels I and II) will take place in the second half of this year.
We are opening the selection of candidates for the active rehabilitation camp that will take place from 3 to 14 October 2017 at the Western Rehabilitation and Sports Centre (Yavoriv, Turka district, Lviv region). We remind you that only people with a spinal injury who use a wheelchair can take part!
Camp organiser: Andrii Cheberiak, tel. (097) 722-34-86
Participants of an active rehabilitation camp may be people with the consequences of a spinal cord injury and impaired pelvic organ function who:
- hold Ukrainian citizenship;
- have no wounds, pressure sores or other contraindications to physical exercise;
- have a spinal and spinal cord injury only (other conditions are not considered);
- have an active-type wheelchair (not obligatory);
- have registered disability status.
Participants are selected on the basis of the submitted forms. Priority is given to internally displaced people with disabilities, participants of the anti-terrorist operation and civilians injured in the area of the operation.
The National Assembly of People with Disabilities of Ukraine, together with UCP Wheels for Humanity (USA) and the Ukrainian Association of Physical Therapists, with financial support from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), is implementing the international project «Training, economic empowerment, assistive technology and medical/physical rehabilitation services» in Ukraine.
The project includes six active rehabilitation camps (two of them additional) as one of the methods of restoring a person’s physical and social condition after a complex spinal injury with damage to the spinal cord (RG Aktiv Rehabilitering).
The partner in organising the camps is the All-Ukrainian Association of Persons with Disabilities «Group for Active Rehabilitation».
